Module 1: Getting Started and Reintroducing R
In this first week, we will cover what you can expect to learn from this course and the course logistics: all you need to know about the structure of the lectures, classes, assessments, and how we will interact throughout this course. Additionally, content wise, I will introduce using R for statistical computing. This will be the program we will focus on for this course.
π¨βπ« Lecture Videos
Lectures this week will only focus on getting you ready to use R for the rest of course. Here are few videos that are essential viewing for that purpose
Introduction to the Course
Installing R
Using Rstudio
Changing R themes
π Recommended Reading & Other Content
Rstudio Cloud
If you donβt want to download R and Rstudio, you can do all the work for this course online using Rstudio Cloud (for branding reasons, this is also called Posit Cloud). Unlike what is in this video, I wonβt be able to access your code, youβll need to submit any assignments via Blackboard.
Rstudio Projects
I find that using Rstudio βprojectsβ is a much easier way to manage analyses in R. Here is a nice easy tutorial!
Quarto!
Quarto is way to create documents, using R, that are readily to an outside audience. We will use these types of documents for your homework and tests! This video is a great introduction tutorial by the company that developed the software interface for Quarto.
Playlist on Intro to R
Years ago I did a summer lecture series on introducing R to researchers. If you have the time, going through this content will give a great deal of knowledge on using R.
